2) To ensure strong support for blues artists living in Tasmania or coming from interstate and other countries. This will help to guarantee good nights for blues club members, because solid numbers at gigs always helps to ensure a terrific nights entertainment.
3) To enable members to plan ahead e.g. to organise their finances and to arrange baby-sitters etc. We plan to have a Blues Club night at least once a month starting at approximately 9.00pm. Members will know well in advance of the next gig (who will be playing, where and when).
4) To maintain affordable membership fees for singles, families, and corporate members.
5) To have a simple structure, not a lot of committee meetings and red tape
6) To ensure a secure and safe environment at every club gig so that no one is hassled. We want to create an environment in which women will feel comfortable, club solidarity will ensure such a secure and safe environment.
7) One of the main aims is, of course, to give local artists the chance to gain recognition by playing in front of more than just a handful of blues lovers. It will also encourage interstate and international artists to want to come back, and spread the word amongst other artists that Tasmania is worth coming to for gigs.
8) To have an attractive membership card that will look good and one which will act as identification for members. We have club T-shirts available at a reasonable price, please contact the Secretary for these. The T-shirts are also available for sale at our club gig nights.
9) To maintain a core of members who will stick with it through thick and thin to make it work, and who will encourage new members to join.
Any members interested in having their say, please come along to the monthly meeting, held at the Royal Oak Hotel at 7.30pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
